The Canton Township Office offers general assistance/relief programs for eligible residents. General Relief/Assistance is monthly assistance for rent, utilities, and vouchers for food/personal essentials. It is a needs-based program, and the maximum monthly grant is $325. The Canton Township office contracts to administer General Assistance to the following townships in Fulton County (in addition to Canton): Astoria, Banner, Bernadotte, Cass, Deerfield, Fairview, Farmers, Farmington, Harris, Isabel, Joshua, Kerton, Lewistown, Liverpool, Orion, Pleasant, Union, Vermont, Waterford, and Woodland. Also covers the following Peoria County townships: Timber Township, Trivoli Township, Elmwood Township
