Victim/Witness Advocates offer advocacy and wraparound services to victims who report their crimes to the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office. People served include: homicide survivors, victims of violent crimes (i.e., domestic violence, robbery, assault, stalking, sexual assault, elder abuse, hit and run, etc.), and victims of property crimes (i.e., burglary, theft, forgery, criminal damage to property, etc.). Victim/Witness Advocates address and coordinate issues ranging from informing victims/witnesses of court dates to finding and recommending various services available for victims. Advocates may accompany victims/witnesses to court and explain the step-by-step process of criminal prosecution.
