Smart Start is a free program for women and girls who are pregnant or who have young children. Smart Start can help clients connect to services in Peoria County such as- -Housing -Transportation -Counseling -Shelters -Food programs -Medical care referrals -Education -Prenatal, postpartum, and infant care education Who gets to receive Smart Start's free services? You can receive help from Smart Start at no cost if: -You are pregnant or have an infant under age 1, and -You live in Peoria County, and -You qualify under the state's income guidelines How does Smart Start work? The Smart Start team will work with clients to help them determine the services they need and then assist them in connecting with the service providers. No transportation? No problem. Smart Start case managers do home visits Monday through Friday. *Smart Start can potentially assist their clients with cribs, pack 'n plays, and car seats.
