In Illinois, child support services are administered by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services- Division of Child Support Services (DCSS).
DCSS helps custodial parents:
-Locate the parent who does not live with the child(ren) (referred to as the noncustodial parent or NCP);
-Legally establish paternity (the child's father) if the parents are not married;
-Get an order for child support and/or health insurance;
-Collect payments on an already established child support order;
-Change the amount of a child support order (also known as a modification); and
-Collect past-due child support payments.
