Must be a resident of Peoria Township and meet program guidelines.

Emergency assistance (Ameren, Eyeglasses/Exams, Dental Voucher, Water) eligibility requirements:
-Must live in Peoria Township
-Anyone receiving General Assistance through the township would NOT qualify for township energy assistance.
-Anyone receiving TANF Cash Assistance OR AABD Cash Assistance through the Department of Human Services/Public Aid would NOT qualify for township energy assistance.
-Monthly net income must be $2500 per month or less for an individual, $3000 for a family.
--Normally, if the power has been disconnected, the township CANNOT help. However, if the amount needed to restore power is $600 or below for a family or $450 or below for a single person, it is worth checking with the township office to see if they can make an exception.
-Energy bill must be in the the applicant's name at the address where they currently live
-For energy and dental assistance, may receive help once every 12 months (water assistance and eyeglasses & exams-every 2 years)
-For eyeglasses and dental assistance, the applicant cannot have a medical card from the State of Illinois or medical insurance that covers those things (If a person is only covered by Medicare, they can still apply for township assistance with eyeglasses and dental)

General Assistance (aka General Relief) Requirements:
-Residency in Peoria Township is an eligibility requirement
-There is no duration requirement. A resident is a person who lives within the Peoria Township boundaries and has no intent to move from the Township.
-A Landlord Verification form is issued to each applicant. This form MUST be completed by the property owner to verify the person’s residence.
-A General Assistance/General Relief applicant cannot have any minor children or dependents living in the same household. If so, the person should apply at Public Aid (DHS) for cash assistance.
-A General Assistance/General Relief applicant must not have any source of income, including but not limited to: Wages, unemployment benefits, Social Security Disability (SSD), Social Security Retirement (SS), or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
