The Pediatric Resource Center (PRC) is a community service program of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. The PRC provides direct services to suspected child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect in a child-friendly manner and setting. Medical and social service staff also provide adjunct services to parents, guardians and caretakers. Additionally, they work in collaboration with the many agencies and systems that are involved in a child abuse case. The PRC is affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. One of the focuses of the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC) is supporting a safety net for caregivers in crisis. The IRC has Emergency Respite funding stipends for caregivers across Illinois in a planned or unplanned emergency. This program provides funding so caregivers can pay for services they choose. Crisis situations that may qualify for the Emergency Respite Program include, but are not limited to the following circumstances: -Caregiver illness (physical, mental, and/or emotional) -Caregiver hospitalization or doctor appointments -Illness of a loved one -Funeral or wake -Drug or alcohol abuse counseling or support -Care recipient transitions (i.e. living arrangements) -Loss of employment or work related situations -Declining Mental Health

We Care, a division of TCRC Inc., is the only non-profit organization of its kind in our community and even the county. Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) demonstrates a successful partnership between governmental agencies and private organizations.
