This site houses two services/programs: A. Tazewell County Legal Self-Help Center Provides information to Tazewell County residents about their legal rights and responsibilities, instructions on how to handle common legal problems, assistance with some legal documents and forms, and referrals to free and low-cost legal services. The Legal Self-Help Center does not provide legal advice to its patrons. Instead, it offers legal information to customers on such topics as instructions for available forms, answers to general legal questions, and information on court procedures. ========================== B. Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee of the Public Interest Law Initiative's (PILI) Self-Represented Litigant Help Desk The Help Desk is staffed virtually by pro bono attorneys who provide brief advice referrals, and limited scope representation to eligible self-represented litigants for approximately 30 minutes per litigant at designated areas in the Peoria and Tazewell County Courthouses. To be eligible for assistance, the self-represented litigant must meet the following criteria: -The litigant must be proceeding in the matter for which they are seeking assistance on a self­-represented basis and not be receiving the assistance of an attorney in the matter; -The litigant’s household must be within 200% of federal poverty guidelines; and -The litigant must not have received assistance through the Help Desk previously on this matter.

Peoria Public Library has five locations and a bookmobile that serve the Peoria community with materials, meeting and study spaces, public computers, and programs for all ages.

Existing Businesses: -Complete analysis of past financial performance and comparison to industry benchmarks. -Diagnosis of cash flow problems and recommended solutions. -Assistance with preparation of Business Plans and financial projections. -Marketing ideas, eBusiness strategies, and general business advice. -Facilitation of company strategic/growth planning process. -Free consulting projects by teams of senior-level Bradley business students. Financing: -Information on federal, state and local loan programs for new and existing businesses. -Guidance through the bank financing process and contact information for local lenders. -Advice on structuring company debt and equity. -Referral to angel investment groups and venture capital firms. Education: -Free "How To Start A Business" workshops every month. -Half day and full day seminars on marketing, HR, finance, taxes, and regulatory compliance.

The American Heart Association provides public education and advocacy focused on heart and blood pressure health in a variety of ways, including through CPR & first aid training, healthy lifestyle information, community organization partnerships & grants (e.g., food pantry storage capacity for nutritional items), and science-based treatment guidelines for healthcare professionals.

Community Health Partnership of Illinois is 501c3 Federally Qualified Health Center. The following services are offered. The Peoria County Family Justice Center offers a multi-disciplinary response team designed to provide services and support to victims of domestic violence, while simultaneously holding offenders accountable. The Peoria County Family Justice Center is a secure location which provides a play area for children to use, while being watched over, as clients meet with personnel. Services/areas of assistance include the following: -Safety planning or assistance with safe shelter -Obtaining an Order of Protection -Emotional support -Filing a police report -Reporting a violation regarding an offender who is in treatment and/or on probation -Referrals or Advocacy to the State's Attorney's Office regarding prosecution and information regarding a pending criminal case -Seeking transitional services to assist in leaving an abusive relationship -Receiving education and information related to Domestic Violence, including Lethality Assessments -Providing additional evidence in a criminal case -Medical advocacy -Referrals to community resources -Obtaining a 911 cell phone -Bus passes or Parking deck stickers -Children's services through Peoria's Children -Court Advocacy in criminal or civil proceedings -VESSA or Safe Homes Act information or advocacy -Attorney General Victims Crime Compensation assistance

Prospect United Methodist Church in Dunlap offers a food pantry for residents of Northern Peoria County.

The Emergency Management Agency was created to combine all Emergency Preparedness Programs including Civil Defense. By state law the Emergency Management Agency is a required County Department. The purpose of Emergency Management Agency is to mitigate potential hazards, plan for, coordinate, respond to and aid in recovery from all disaster situations whether natural or man-made. Woodford County Emergency Management Agency (WEMA) provides disaster response coordination for all unincorporated areas of Woodford County and coordinates between the State of Illinois and any incorporated area of the county during disaster events.

Founded in 2004 as a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c) (3) organization, the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes provides assistance, as resources allow, to the wounded veterans and families of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.

The Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC) is a not-for-profit organization of caregivers and respite providers dedicated to advocating support for families by ensuring access to quality respite services for the residents of Illinois. The IRC is dedicated to spreading the awareness of lifespan respite for caregivers of individuals with special needs. The IRC is able to assist caregivers by connecting them to resources in their area, providing training on respite topics, and offering funding for emergency respite care.

DCP Mobile provides laundry and showers to those in need during the spring, summer, and fall. Dates and locations are posted on the Dream Center Peoria Facebook page. During the winter months, the Dream Center offers "Wash Wednesdays" at their location at 714 Hamilton Blvd in Peoria.

To submit a claim for actual damages, including food spoilage, due to a power interruption, outage, surge, or other fluctuation, complete a Claim Form (link on this page) and mail the Claim Form and supporting documentation to: Brentwood Services Administrators, Inc. Ameren Illinois will send the customer written confirmation that it received the customer’s Claim Form shortly after receiving a claim. 2. Ameren Illinois will determine whether the claim arises from a qualifying interruption, outage, surge, or other fluctuation. Ameren Illinois will determine whether it believes any of the statutory exemptions apply. If none of the exemptions applies, the claim will be processed. If one or more of the exemptions apply, then Ameren Illinois may deny the claim or request a waiver from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). Ameren Illinois will inform the customer of the waiver request, and that the processing of the claim will be stayed until the ICC makes a decision. 1. If the ICC grants Ameren Illinois’ waiver request, then Ameren Illinois will inform the customer that it is not liable for the customer’s claim. 2. If the ICC denies Ameren Illinois’ request and the decision is not appealed, then Ameren Illinois will process the customer’s claim and provide additional notice to customers who may have been affected by the qualifying event. 3. Ameren Illinois will communicate its proposed resolution of the claim to the customer. Typical claims are resolved within 90 days (excluding any time that claims were held pending an ICC or court decision) after Ameren Illinois has received a completed Claim Form with the required proof of damage. Provides one-time financial assistance grants (up to $2,500) to eligible active-duty service members, activated Guard or Reserve members, and their families who are experiencing unexpected financial hardship due to deployment, military-related injury, or service-related circumstances. Assistance may help cover basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, or other essential bills. Grants are paid directly to creditors and do not require repayment. Expenses Eligible for consideration of payment (daily necessities): *Housing expenses - mortgage, rent, repairs, and homeowners’ insurance (establishing residence/insurance or paying off expenses for a residence that is no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Vehicle expenses - payments, repairs, insurance (purchasing/paying off loan, major repairs for vehicles over 10 years old, registering, establishing insurance will not be considered) *Utilities (establishing/paying off utilities for a residence no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Childcare *Medical bills (the patient’s portion for necessary or emergency medical care only). The Stark County Good Samaritan Fund accepts applications from working families in the area that have needs beyond their means to pay. The Fund provides stop gap assistance to get them back on their feet and can potentially assist with a variety of services. About one third of all funds will be used to pay utility bills. Another one third will pay for housing, rent or mortgage payments. The final third will end up going for everything from medical services, to car mufflers. The aim is to keep the people in their present homes, to keep their car working so they can get to work, and to get them needed medical attention so that they can work. The Fund has a board that determines who qualifies for help and how much help can be provided. The board also governs all other aspects of the organization.
