The Fulton County Health Department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the county. LIHEAP provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent. The benefit amount will be credited to the households primary winter heating source (gas vs. electric). The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is a nonprofit serving people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Callers receive personalized information about multiple sclerosis and connections to local and national resources related to MS. Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. In addition, the helpline can connect callers to peer counseling, advice on local support groups, and online communities.

Provides one-time financial assistance grants (up to $2,500) to eligible active-duty service members, activated Guard or Reserve members, and their families who are experiencing unexpected financial hardship due to deployment, military-related injury, or service-related circumstances. Assistance may help cover basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, or other essential bills. Grants are paid directly to creditors and do not require repayment. Expenses Eligible for consideration of payment (daily necessities): *Housing expenses - mortgage, rent, repairs, and homeowners’ insurance (establishing residence/insurance or paying off expenses for a residence that is no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Vehicle expenses - payments, repairs, insurance (purchasing/paying off loan, major repairs for vehicles over 10 years old, registering, establishing insurance will not be considered) *Utilities (establishing/paying off utilities for a residence no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Childcare *Medical bills (the patient’s portion for necessary or emergency medical care only). Expenses Ineligible for consideration for payment: *Military debt/repayment, tuition assistance debt/repayment *Cable, internet, secondary phones *Taxes owed of any kind *Rentals of any kind (vehicle, furniture, and/or electronics) *Any other expenses not determined to be a "daily necessity" The eligible and ineligible expense lists are not all inclusive. Good Beginnings is a prenatal and postpartum home visiting program that provides services and support to qualified first-time and second-time caregivers in Peoria and Tazewell counties. JOLT Harm Reduction provides a variety of free services, including -Naloxone/Narcan and Overdose Prevention Kits and Training -Drug Checking (analysis of drugs to verify composition for more informed consumption and to avoid highly dangerous substances/adulterants) -Peer Recovery Navigation (exploring recovery options and offering support through the process) -Sexual Health & Testing (free and confidential testing for HIV/AIDS, Hep. C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphillis. Free condoms, lubrication, and PrEP/PeP) -Harm Reduction (Free and sterile syringes, safe using supplies, alcohol pads, sterile water, tourniquets, sharps containers, and wound care) -Street Outreach (outreach to people who are living unsheltered, people who use drugs, and people who perform sex work) -Sex Worker Outreach (RUG, the Red Umbrella Group, is a mutual aid, peer support, online community for people involved in sex work. The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund is a program of the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF) that offers emergency assistance to Illinois food and beverage workers facing an unanticipated hardship within the past 90 days such as: accident, illness, injury, death of an immediate family member, or natural disaster. If you are in need of assistance, please complete the online application form. All grant requests will be reviewed. The IRAEF Restaurant Employee Relief Fund grants are awarded to eligible individuals based on available funds and limited to one per individual. Grants cover costs of living expenses for life-altering events and range from $250-$3,000.

Central Illinois Service Access (CISA) provides information, assessment, and referral services for people with developmental disabilities and their families. This can include assistance with accessing group homes and other supports.

CityLink paratransit service is a "safety net" for only those individuals who do not have the functional capability to use the fixed-route system.

North Central Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is a non-profit behavioral health care organization serving La Salle, Bureau, Marshall, Putnam, Fulton, McDonough, and Grundy counties.

Senior Program

Living By Your Design Inc. assists seniors and disabled individuals, as well as their families, in finding appropriate home care, independent living, assisted living, and nursing homes; and in navigating questions regarding disability, senior, and veterans benefits. The office is able to provide expert guidance on Social Security questions. Among the case management services offered by Living by Your Design are one on one case management with a nurse, as well as bill paying assistance.

Interim Healthcare provides a variety of home care services through a team of certified nursing assistants, in-home aides, personal care aides, and registered nurses and companions.

Boys & Girls Clubs Families 2000 is a "Parent as Teachers" affiliate. The program is focused on preparing children age newborn to three for the academic system through family empowerment strategies such as enhancing parenting skills, counseling, home visitation, healthy living skills guidance, developmental screening, and creative activities to empower families to manage everyday life changes. There are no fees associated with participation in this program.

The Peoria Heights Police Department serves as a medication disposal drop-off location.

Bureau and Putnam Are Rural Transit offers local transportation.

The Share Closet is a community resale store carrying a variety of clothing, kitchen supplies, furniture, decor, toys, books, and much more. The Share Closet also collects medical supplies, bedding, kitchen, and baby supplies to give to those in need. The site operates as a thrift store but provides certificates for individuals who cannot afford needed items.
