Tazewell Woodford Head Start is a federally funded program that empowers families and promotes school readiness in preschool-age children. Tazewell Woodford Head Start serves approximately 350 families in the surrounding communities. Teachers follow a developmentally-appropriate curriculum based on the Head Start Framework and Illinois Learning Standards.

Hand Up Peoria offers a food pantry twice per month (2nd & 4th Thursday, usually), as well as a hygiene item pantry (2nd & 4th Wednesday, usually). Thursday pantry items include food, meat, some refrigerated items and fruits as available, and bread. Wednesday hygiene items include incontinence supplies, feminine hygiene items, baby needs (diapers & wipes, primarily), and other hygiene products.

Central Illinois FRIENDS supports members of the LGBTQI+ Community, people living with HIV, and the general public through compassionate and personalized care. Leisure Acres (age 55+): Applications accepted on second Wednesday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Housing Authority office (please call first) 2. Oak Street Health's Peoria Clinic is a primary care center for adults on Medicare and is the only primary care provider to carry the AARP name. Oak Street Health also helps patients maximize their Medicare coverage and coordinate other healthcare services such as specialist appointments and social services. Care teams develop personalized preventive care plans to help patients achieve their physical and mental health goals. Services offered at the Peoria location include primary care, chronic condition care (especially focused on those ages 65+), help navigating Medicare benefits, wellness and preventive care, and immunizations (Flu, COVID-19, and more). Oak Street Health's Peoria Clinic also serves as a cooling or warming center during business hours for those needing a break from extreme temperatures.

Smart Start is a free program for women and girls who are pregnant or who have young children. Smart Start can help clients connect to services in Peoria County such as- -Housing -Transportation -Counseling -Shelters -Food programs -Medical care referrals -Education -Prenatal, postpartum, and infant care education Who gets to receive Smart Start's free services? You can receive help from Smart Start at no cost if: -You are pregnant or have an infant under age 1, and -You live in Peoria County, and -You qualify under the state's income guidelines How does Smart Start work? The Smart Start team will work with clients to help them determine the services they need and then assist them in connecting with the service providers. No transportation? No problem. Smart Start case managers do home visits Monday through Friday. *Smart Start can potentially assist their clients with cribs, pack 'n plays, and car seats.
