METEC Resource Center now offers the Older Adult Home Modification Program. The modifications eligible for funding under this program are low-cost, low-barrier, yet high-impact solutions that significantly improve safety and accessibility for older adults (age 62+). Common examples of modifications include: *Grab bars and other modifications in bathrooms to reduce fall risks *Ramps for easier access to homes *Stair lifts to allow older adults to access all levels of their home *Widening doorways for wheelchair accessibility *Enhanced lighting to improve visibility in hallways and staircases *Non-slip flooring to prevent falls *Smoke/CO detectors *Security improvements *Thermostat improvements These types of renovations are essential for reducing accidents, making daily tasks easier, and enabling seniors to live independently with dignity.

The mission of the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP)- Ayuda para Trabajadores- is to improve working conditions for migrant and seasonal workers in Illinois, including low-income farmworkers, landscapers, snow plowing workers, packinghouse workers, cannery workers, and meat and poultry workers and their households. All produce is distributed to local veterans through American Legions, AmVets, Navy/Marine Club, VFW, Veterans Pub and Pizza and to homeless veterans through the Salvation Army. National outreach for America’s Gold Star Families includes our Children’s Greeting Card Program. We send birthday cards along with a $20 gift card to over 500 children of the fallen across the USA. AGSF partnered with the Sgt. Anthony R. Maddox Memorial to host the first Fallen Heroes Tree of Honor erected in the Illinois State Capitol, Springfield, Illinois. Families of the fallen from across the USA can visit our website and click on the Ornament Registration tab. This information will enable us to craft an ornament in honor of your hero.

The Helpline is the only statewide, public resource for finding substance use treatment and recovery services in Illinois. PLEASE NOTE that this service tracks recovery resources for ALL SUBSTANCES (including alcohol). The Helpline refers to hundreds of treatment and recovery providers across Illinois. Helpline services are free and confidential. Anyone can use the Helpline, whether the person is struggling with a substance use disorder or cares about someone who is. Trained Helpline Specialists answer questions, provide support, and connect the caller with services in Illinois. ---------------------------------------- The Illinois Helpline also offers medication on demand to IL residents seeking treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD). Medication-assisted recovery (MAR) involves the use of FDA-approved medications for treatment of OUD and AUD. Now an individual can speak directly with a provider over the phone, immediately receive a prescription or expedited, in-person appointment, and get transportation assistance to the pharmacy or clinic- all initiated through one phone call. Callers can access MAR NOW 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Care managers help callers determine their best treatment options and connect them to a provider for an immediate telephone appointment and medication prescription. Care coordinators can also facilitate a same- or next-day, in-person appointment. All callers are connected to ongoing treatment with a community provider that best meets their needs.

Safe Families for Children is a movement aimed at keeping children safe and families intact. Through host families, family friends, and family coaches, Safe Families for Children temporarily hosts children and provides a network of support to families in crisis while they get back on their feet.

IF IN A CRISIS SITUATION, SUCH AS PENDING DISCONNECTION OR ALREADY BEING DISCONNECTED , IT IS RECOMMENDED TO STILL CALL ANYWAY, EVEN IF NO APPOINTMENTS ARE LISTED ONLINE. PLEASE NOTE THAT FURNACE ASSISTANCE IS A SEPARATE PROGRAM, SO YOU SHOULD GO AHEAD AND CHECK WITH TAZWOOD, REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS LISTED ONLINE. In addition, customers can either call or go to their local office, but this is ONLY to schedule an appointment. When calling into the office, you might get a recorded message stating that the phones are disconnected, the number cannot be completed as dialed, all circuits are busy, etc. The type of message you receive varies based on your phone carrier. There can be thousands of customers calling on a given day, and Tazwood has around 20 staff answering the phones and scheduling appointments. It is important to remember that LIHEAP runs from October 1, 2025 - August 15, 2026, or until funding is exhausted. When you enter the parking lot follow it to the BACK of the building. Tazwood LIHEAP is located on the 2nd floor. You will enter through the back entrance where there are stairs and an elevator. Customers with issues getting into the building or to the 2nd floor, please call (309-690-6500) and a staff member will come down to the lobby to assist you. The Healthier Homes Initiative is a no-cost program providing eligible Ameren Illinois residential customers with home upgrades and minor repairs to improve safety, comfort, indoor air quality and overall home health. Eligible customers may receive energy efficiency improvements to their home such as air sealing, insulation, lighting replacement, ventilation and moisture control measures, and other safety measures. Upgrades and minor repairs are based on an assessment conducted by qualified contractors.
