The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is a nonprofit serving people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Callers receive personalized information about multiple sclerosis and connections to local and national resources related to MS. Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. In addition, the helpline can connect callers to peer counseling, advice on local support groups, and online communities.

Illiana-Danville VA Medical Center has teamed up with AgeCentral to offer Veteran Directed Care (VDC). VDC provides assistance to veterans to help them remain in their homes and is a more flexible option than traditional in-home services. A trained options counselor helps the veteran determine what kind of help is needed, and then VA funds are used to- *Hire and manage an in-home assistant, including hiring a family member or friend to help with personal care and assistance around the house *Make the home more accessible *Order meal delivery services

The Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center is a school for children ages 3 to 7 years old and their families. The early childhood program provides care and education in a developmentally appropriate, NAEYC Accredited environment. Guided by the philosophy that all children can learn, Valeska operates year round serving approximately 400 at-risk children from all areas of Peoria Public Schools. Children will gain accelerated development of social, emotional, language, and cognitive ability in a secure and stable environment. Children enter the center and join one of our four villages. Valeska's villages serve as a hub for many family and community activities.

North Central Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is a non-profit behavioral health care organization serving La Salle, Bureau, Marshall, Putnam, Fulton, McDonough, and Grundy counties.

CARES stands for Crisis and Referral Entry Services. The program handles mental health crisis calls for children and youth in Illinois. CARES links parents, caregivers, or callers to a special screening, assessment and support program known as SASS. CARES will ask questions about the child's behavior. Then CARES will either send the local SASS to see you and your child or refer you to mental health or other services. If the child or adolescent is in immediate danger, please 911 instead.

The Mackinaw Community Center Food Pantry is available to Mackinaw and Deer Creek residents on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month. In addition to food boxes, the food pantry provides school supplies for any child in need that attends Dee Mack schools.

Hooked on Fishing is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides fishing opportunities for the community, with a focus on children, senior citizens, and special needs groups. All fishing is “catch and release." Equipment and bait is provided. Instruction includes- -Safety -The basics of using a rod and reel -Fishing techniques -Baiting a hook -Landing the catch -Handling the fish -Removing hooks -Fish identification Beyond the basics, teaching can cover fish biology, knot tying, fishing ethics, fishing techniques and good fishing sportsmanship. Hooked on Fishing is happy to work with teachers, scout masters, and group leaders to custom design instructional programs that meet their specific educational objectives. Because of the importance of artesian wells in supplying water to to Hooked on Fishing's ponds, instruction can also be provided on aquifers, artesian wells, and water quality issues. Enthusiastic volunteers are able to provide much one-on-one help, guidance, and instruction to novice anglers.

The mission of ABC Counseling & Family Services is to provide specialized evaluation and treatment to youth that are either the victims of sexual abuse or have sexual behavior problems and to help their families heal from the trauma of sexual abuse. ABC Counseling & Family Services also provides adoption services for adoptive parents and counseling for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

It Takes A Village of Peoria is aimed at collaborating with organizations, parents, students, teaching personnel, and citizens to support students' academic success. The organization offers a "Village" store inside of Peoria area schools that provides free clothing, school supplies, and food. Assistance is also occasionally available for adults in the general public.

Almost Home Kids at OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois provides care to children from newborn to age 22 who are most often dependent on medical technology, such as ventilators, feeding tubes, or central lines. Respite care offers families a period of rest from one to 14 days. In addition, transitional care is offered for children with medical complexities who are medically stable and ready to leave the hospital, but whose families need some extra time to make preparations for their child's return home.

Cooling and Warming Center Details: All Peoria Fire Department Fire Stations are open to the public every day of the week as cooling/warming centers from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 pm, but persons seeking help can go to any Fire Station at any time. It's important to note that if the crew is sent on a call, anyone using the station as a cooling or warming center will have to temporarily leave during that time. The Veterans Assistance program is an emergency and interim financial assistance program and should not be considered to be an ongoing financial supportive program. All assistance provided by the VACPC is predicated on an established standard of need as set forth by IDHS. It is not the intent of either the Commission or the County to provide assistance either less than or in excess of the levels of assistance adopted by IDHS. The following assistance is given upon qualification: *Food Orders and Personal Items: Depending on size of family. *Utilities and Fuel: Utility payments will be made, providing the applicant qualifies in other respects. No deposits or past due bills will be paid to the utility company. *Rent Payments: This Veterans Assistance office does not pay security deposits, back rents, or home finding fees. Rents shall not be paid to relatives unless it is a separate rental dwelling. *Transportation: The VA will provide Transportation for the veteran to the local Veterans Medical Center by the least expensive means when necessary.
