The Veterans Assistance program is an emergency and interim financial assistance program and should not be considered to be an ongoing financial supportive program. All assistance provided by the VACPC is predicated on an established standard of need as set forth by IDHS. It is not the intent of either the Commission or the County to provide assistance either less than or in excess of the levels of assistance adopted by IDHS. The following assistance is given upon qualification: *Food Orders and Personal Items: Depending on size of family. *Utilities and Fuel: Utility payments will be made, providing the applicant qualifies in other respects. No deposits or past due bills will be paid to the utility company. *Rent Payments: This Veterans Assistance office does not pay security deposits, back rents, or home finding fees. Rents shall not be paid to relatives unless it is a separate rental dwelling. *Transportation: The VA will provide Transportation for the veteran to the local Veterans Medical Center by the least expensive means when necessary.

The Fund provides stop gap assistance to get them back on their feet and can potentially assist with a variety of services. About one third of all funds will be used to pay utility bills. Another one third will pay for housing, rent or mortgage payments. The final third will end up going for everything from medical services, to car mufflers. The aim is to keep the people in their present homes, to keep their car working so they can get to work, and to get them needed medical attention so that they can work. The Fund has a board that determines who qualifies for help and how much help can be provided. The board also governs all other aspects of the organization.

Sun Meals To Go is a federal program sponsored by the USDA. ANY family with children aged 1-18 qualifies for this program. There is NO income limit or range. The program offers 14 free shelf-stable meals per child per week. Families need to register and choose a pick-up location that suits their needs. Pick-up locations are available in Eureka and Spring Bay in Woodford County and in Green Valley in Tazewell County. Participants do not need to reside in the pick-up location counties to be eligible. Mended Hearts Therapeutic Center provides, promotes, and supports equine-specialized interventions in the areas of therapy and education. In addition to therapeutic approaches involving horses, Mended Hearts offers canine-assisted therapy and traditional talk therapies.

Goodwill offers instructor led classes focus on computer basics, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus job readiness. Additional workshops and seminars focus on related job skills topics: resumes, interviewing skills, online applications, business writing, professionalism in the workplace, social media, skills employers are looking for, goal setting, banking/finance, internet security, tablets and cell phones, and more. Forklift training is also offered.

The Heartland Health Services Mobile Health Center offers psychiatric and substance use services in Peoria and Pekin. For psychiatric services, the mobile center focuses on psychiatric medication management, but can refer into the main Heartland Health Services provider network for mental health counseling and additional services. For substance use services, the center includes both a counseling component and the option of medication assisted recovery.

People who receive assistance from the Poverello Outreach ministry are hardworking men and women who are simply having a tough time making ends meet. Often they are working at two or three jobs or suffer from ill-health. They simply need a little bit of help, and Poverello Outreach strives to assist them.

Mother's War On Violence is a 501c3 organization and a podcast hosted by Yolanda Wallace, an Urbana native who lives in Peoria, Illinois. Yolanda lost her son, Jon Buckley, to gun violence in 2006. Her organization and the accompanying podcast aim to help prevent community violence. The podcast is a co-production of WCBU Peoria Public Radio.

Harmonize Peoria is a non-profit organization with a mission of providing musical exposure, education, and access for youth. The organization provides pay-what-you-can-afford instrument and voice lessons. It also offers free instrument loans, free performance opportunities ,and various workshops and events. Harmonize Peoria aims to find a way for any child or teen who is interested in music to have access to lessons, instruments, and opportunities, regardless of their financial means.
