The primary focus is on helping parents locate child care which meets the parents' needs, determining whether a family qualifies for assistance in paying for child care, providing training for those who work with young children, recruiting additional child care providers, and providing consultation on health issues in child care programs. Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of men and women who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. Membership also includes adults from homes where alcohol or drugs were not present; however, abuse, neglect or unhealthy behavior was. Members meet to share their experience and recovery in an atmosphere of mutual respect, discovering the impacts of alcoholism and other family dysfunction. Meetings are held throughout the country, including in Peoria, IL.

The Goshen Township Office administers limited community assistance/general relief for qualifying township residents. General relief is considered a form of assistance of "last resort" and is often very limited when compared to other public assistance programs. Positive Health Solutions provides a wide variety of services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ+ population, as well as certain outreach/prevention programs for the general public*. A program for children in state custody who are unable to remain safely in their home. Children in foster care stay with a family who provides safety, nurturing, support and role models for change. Foster care is meant to be a temporary, short term solution to an emergency situation. Foster placement may be for a single day or several weeks and some continue for years. (Available in 20 counties)

It Takes A Village of Peoria is aimed at collaborating with organizations, parents, students, teaching personnel, and citizens to support students' academic success. The organization offers a "Village" store inside of Peoria area schools that provides free clothing, school supplies, and food. Assistance is also occasionally available for adults in the general public.

Phoenix Community Development Services' PATH program provides outreach and support to individuals in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, and Fulton counties who are experiencing homelessness and have a serious mental illness and/or substance abuse condition.

Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) is a 24/7 community-based program that provides an emergency assessment to children experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Youth who have no insurance coverage or who have Medicaid are assessed during a crisis to determine if community services can be utilized to avoid hospitalization. Children’s Home provides this life-saving service to Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. If psychiatric hospitalization is deemed necessary, MCR facilitates a connection to the appropriate in-patient unit. All children screened and served in the program are referred through the CARES line at 1-800-345-9049 and routed to a 24-hour on-call system.

The East Village Growth Cell Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) Housing Program helps property owners in the East Bluff neighborhood to make improvements to the outside of their homes. Homeowners and landlords can apply. The EVGC TIF Housing Program is a 50/50 match grant program that gives between $1,000 to $15,000 of assistance to property owners of single-family homes. The Fulton County Health Department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the county. LIHEAP provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent. The benefit amount will be credited to the households primary winter heating source (gas vs. electric). The program can also occasionally assist with emergency furnace repair/replacement. ================================= 2025-26 LIHEAP LIHEAP runs October 1, 2025 to August 15, 2026, or until funding is exhausted.
