2025-26 Warming & Cooling Center Information:
Open as a warming center when the temperatures fall below freezing. The Salvation Army's building is at 243 Derby St. in Pekin, and The Pekin Outreach Initiative is housed on the East Side of this building. The Pekin Outreach Initiative portion is open from 11am-4pm, Monday through Sunday, for people to drop in and warm up. The Salvation Army shelter in the gym at the same location is open overnight 5pm-10:30am, Monday through Sunday, for warming. Usually limited to 10-15 people at most for this purpose.

The Peoria County Family Justice Center offers a multi-disciplinary response team designed to provide services and support to victims of domestic violence, while simultaneously holding offenders accountable. The Peoria County Family Justice Center is a secure location which provides a play area for children to use, while being watched over, as clients meet with personnel.
Services/areas of assistance include the following:
-Safety planning or assistance with safe shelter
-Obtaining an Order of Protection
-Emotional support
-Filing a police report
-Reporting a violation regarding an offender who is in treatment and/or on probation
-Referrals or Advocacy to the State's Attorney's Office regarding prosecution and information regarding a pending criminal case
-Seeking transitional services to assist in leaving an abusive relationship

They have been trained in recovery support, mentoring, and advocacy and are ready to listen and help you. The warm line is not a crisis hotline, but is a source of support.
