The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is a nonprofit serving people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Callers receive personalized information about multiple sclerosis and connections to local and national resources related to MS. Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. In addition, the helpline can connect callers to peer counseling, advice on local support groups, and online communities.

The OSF Strive Trauma Recovery Program provides trauma-informed therapy, case management, and legal advocacy services for individuals age 6 and up in Peoria County who are survivors of, witnesses to, or family members of survivors (or victims in cases of murder) of violent crime. Services are offered at several locations, including OSF Hospital and Emergency Department, OSF Outpatient office (214Pecan St., Peoria 61602), Manual Academy (and some other Peoria Public Schools), Wrap-Around Center in Trewyn, and in homes and other locations as needed.

The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund is a program of the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF) that offers emergency assistance to Illinois food and beverage workers facing an unanticipated hardship within the past 90 days such as: accident, illness, injury, death of an immediate family member, or natural disaster. If you are in need of assistance, please complete the online application form. All grant requests will be reviewed. The IRAEF Restaurant Employee Relief Fund grants are awarded to eligible individuals based on available funds and limited to one per individual. Grants cover costs of living expenses for life-altering events and range from $250-$3,000.

Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of men and women who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. Membership also includes adults from homes where alcohol or drugs were not present; however, abuse, neglect or unhealthy behavior was. Members meet to share their experience and recovery in an atmosphere of mutual respect, discovering the impacts of alcoholism and other family dysfunction. Meetings are held throughout the country, including in Peoria, IL.

Equip For Equality advances the civil rights of people with disabilities through legal services, public policy, monitoring and training. It also administers the State of Illinois Client Assistance Program (CAP), which helps people with disabilities receive quality services by advocating for their interests and helping them identify resources, understand procedures, resolve problems, and protect their rights in the rehabilitation process, employment, and home services.

The Western Illinois Regional Council manages weatherization for Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren counties. Weatherization includes inspection & possible repair/replacement of a heating system, inspection & possible repair/replacement of a water heater, insulation of walls & attics, and repair of doors & windows. Please note that the furnace repair/replacement under weatherization is distinct from the LIHEAP furnace program, which is handled by the local LIHEAP organization and tends to be faster (it would be best to inquire about both if that is the need).

It features the S.T.E.A.M.S curriculum, which includes First Lego League, allowing children to research, design, and build Lego Robot. The goal is that the children grow to love learning and look beyond simply passing their school courses, but dream to excel far beyond. As a result, they support each other to pursue their goals and unite the school community for long-term change. *Peoria Peacekeepers The Peoria Peacekeepers Network is a referral program established by the Peoria Friendship House that focuses on using a restorative justice approach to provide juvenile offenders who have admitted to committing certain eligible offenses, misdemeanors, or felony. Juvenile offenders are given the opportunity to make restitution, connect with the community, and receive needed services and support. Peoria Friendship House works in tandem with various organizations to provide aid to juvenile offenders via referral sources such as the Peoria Police Department Station Adjustments, Peoria Public Schools discipline referrals, and Peoria County Probation Informal Supervision.
