It offers numerous assistance programs for those in need. ------------------ 2025-26 Warming & Cooling Center Information: Open as a warming center when the temperatures fall below freezing. The Salvation Army's building is at 243 Derby St. in Pekin, and The Pekin Outreach Initiative is housed on the East Side of this building. The Pekin Outreach Initiative portion is open from 11am-4pm, Monday through Sunday, for people to drop in and warm up. The Salvation Army shelter in the gym at the same location is open overnight 5pm-10:30am, Monday through Sunday, for warming. Usually limited to 10-15 people at most for this purpose.

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin offers the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry three times per week. The pantry distributed pre-packed boxes of food, including frozen meat, bread, and produce (when available).

The Peoria Area Food Pantry serves Peoria County residents and provides a "choice" pantry that allows those in need to select products. It also offers emergency food options.

We Care, Inc. can occasionally provide emergency food to those in need.

Bethel United Methodist Church offers a food pantry for the south side of Peoria residents.

Community Needs Agency in Chillicothe is an all-volunteer resource center that serves residents of Illinois Valley Central School District 321 (Chillicothe, Rome, Mossville area). All programs and services are income-based. A couple of service clarifications: -Emergency food can be provided as available to clients by appointment only. -One aspect of energy assistance is LIHEAP application assistance, offered by appointment only for clients.

The Green Valley Food Pantry provides food monthly to those in need in the village of Green Valley and Sand Prairie Township.

Evangelical United Methodist Church offers a monthly food pantry for those in need.

The MECA Center of Peoria and Product of the Project offer the Community Food Pantry on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., providing a wide selection of fresh and non-perishable food items.
