Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. Shirette's In Home Care offers a variety of services, including meal preparation, hygiene and grooming assistance, light house cleaning, transportation to and from medical facilities or shopping, and medication supervision. Also offered are respite care to provide caregivers a break, and 24/7 multiple shift care.

The New Day Senior Services In-Home Counseling and Friendly Visitor programs are offered for seniors age 60 years and older in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark, and Fulton counties so that they can continue to live in their own residence and improve their quality of life. New Day Senior Services also provides training in the community on mental health issues to seniors and other professionals who work with older adults.

The Veterans Assistance program is an emergency and interim financial assistance program and should not be considered to be an ongoing financial supportive program. All assistance provided by the VACPC is predicated on an established standard of need as set forth by IDHS. It is not the intent of either the Commission or the County to provide assistance either less than or in excess of the levels of assistance adopted by IDHS. The following assistance is given upon qualification: *Food Orders and Personal Items: Depending on size of family. *Utilities and Fuel: Utility payments will be made, providing the applicant qualifies in other respects. No deposits or past due bills will be paid to the utility company. *Rent Payments: This Veterans Assistance office does not pay security deposits, back rents, or home finding fees. Rents shall not be paid to relatives unless it is a separate rental dwelling. *Transportation: The VA will provide Transportation for the veteran to the local Veterans Medical Center by the least expensive means when necessary.

The Disability Transit/CityLift "door to door" service provides a transportation option for 18- to 59-year-old residents of urban Washington with a mobility disability. The service can transport to points within the Washington urban area, as well as in East Peoria and Peoria. Prior to utilizing the program, an interested person will need to submit an application to the Washington Township Office for approval. -------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR CONVENIENCE, IMMEDIATELY BELOW ARE OTHER RIDE PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE IN THE WASHINGTON AREA (Please note that the other ride programs immediately below do not require an application, while the Disability Transit/CityLift "door to door" service for 18- to 59-year old urban Washington residents with a mobility disability does require an application; the details of that application are explained further down this page) Paratransit service or referral for individuals aged 60 plus is already provided by Central Illinois Agency on Aging in the Washington urban area. For Sunnyland residents who are already qualified to ride the CityLift transit bus to points in East Peoria and Peoria and want to travel to the City of Washington must fill out and submit the Washington Rider Application to Washington Township. Transportation for rural Washington Township residents is provided through We Care in Morton. We Care will transport persons who are mobility challenged, with or without disabilities, to and from rural points as well as from city to rural, rural to city, but not city to city or point to point within a city. Persons may call We Care directly at 309-263-7708. Don't forget that Washington Township provides the 62+ Ride Service for seniors 62 and over through TDK Event Services for individuals who live in and are traveling to points within Washington Township, or from Washington Township to medical appointments in Peoria, East Peoria, or Morton. Washington Township sponsors a car ride taxi service in cooperation with TDK Event Services for mobile senior residents age 62 and over who live in and are traveling within Washington Township's 61571 zip code area, or are traveling from this area to a medical appointment in Peoria, East Peoria, or Morton. When calling, please identify yourself as a 62+ Ride Requester.

The Health & Wellness Connection of Fulton County (HWCFC) is a care management facility that works closely with Graham Health System to provide qualified individuals with low or no cost health services. Individuals who need assistance with things like medications, diabetic & other medical supplies, vision and dental care, and transportation for medical care may qualify for financial assistance. Individuals who do not qualify may seek assistance for referrals to other appropriate organizations.
