Heartland Health Services has been in operation since February 1, 2004, as a federally designated community health center. Its targeted population is low-income adults and children. Among its many programs, it provides health insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare navigation; as well as help in completing Social Security benefits applications, SNAP/Link applications, and applications for various assistance programs (utilities, etc.).

The OSF Care-A-Van focuses on the under-served areas of Peoria, providing free healthcare services that include blood pressure screenings, doctor consultations, nurse visits, exercise consults, dietician consults, health education, insurance consults, linkage with a primary care doctor, discussion of general health concerns, and spiritual support. The program can be accessed without an appointment, on a first come, first serve basis. All services are free of charge.
