The Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) is the Illinois Title V agency that provides care coordination for families and children with special health care needs. DSCC, governed by Administrative Rules, helps children with disabilities, and those who have conditions which may lead to disabilities, grow and develop to the full extent of their abilities.

First Hand Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) organization that provides funding for individual children—both domestically and globally—who need assistance with clinical necessities (such as surgery, medication and therapy), medical equipment and travel related to care. Expenses covered: *Treatment: Clinical procedures, medicine, dental care, therapy, prosthesis, service dogs, etc. *Equipment: Wheelchairs, movable ramps & stair lifts, assistive technology equipment, care devices, hearing aids, feeding equipment, etc. *Medical-related travel and lodging costs *Vehicle modifications: Lifts, ramps and transfer boards --------------------------------------------------------------- Expenses not covered: *Medical bills, reimbursements, emotional support animals, alternative/experimental treatments, or education-related therapies/expenses. *Permanent housing modifications

The South-West Kiwanis Club of Peoria has established the "Lend A Hand Project" to assist individuals with disabilities who need durable medical devices or equipment to enhance their quality of life. Examples of items that could be funded through the program (to name a few) include walkers, crutches, wheelchair cushions, highchairs, and car seats. This project was formed to assist with the cost associated with a need by supplementing families in instances where other funding is unavailable.
