Aktion Club Aktion Club is a community service organization for adults with disabilities and is affiliated with the Kiwanis Club. Learn how you can give back to your community through service projects. The club meets once a month. Each meeting features a business meeting, program or project and snacks. Come be a part of this worthwhile and rewarding activity. There are 2 locations to participate. This programs is Free and for ages 21+. No registration required. Check the calendar page for cancellations or the annual Aktion Club Dance. East Peoria area participants meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Fon du Lac Park District Administration Center at 201 Veterans Drive. Pekin area participants meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the Miller Senior Citizens Center near the Lagoon at 551 South 14th Street. Cheer and Dance Team Come be an IRVSRA Cheerleader for our Special Olympic Teams! We offer 3 separate cheer seasons throughout the year. Be sure to watch the IRVSRA brochure for details. Jewelry Making – Fused Glass Once a year around September we offer a glass jewelry making class. Students will be guided on how to use a variety of glass fusing products and materials to create 10 pieces of original jewelry. All work will be fired in the kiln and ready for pick-up the following day. No previous glass experience necessary. Jewelry pieces make excellent gifts. Be sure to watch the IRVSRA Brochure and newsletters to further information. Enabling Gardens Like getting your hands dirty? Pam can turn your thumb green while having fun with plant and flower based crafts and planting projects. We offer this program a couple times a month, so check out the brochure for details.
Dances We have a few dances throughout the year were we dance the evening away to a DJ and lights. February: Valentine's Dance April: Spring Formal July: Summertime Bash October: Halloween Costume Dance Party Parties The Occasional non-dance party. These tend to change from year to year. Parties have included Bingo, Open Ice Skate, or Pizza and Bowling. The one party that is consistent and quit popular is the FREE family fun night pool parties at Splashdown in July and at Dragonland in August. Sporting Events We typically schedule a group outing to go watch local sporting events like the Peoria Rivermen, Peoria Chiefs, or Bradley Basketball during their respective seasons. We get tickets at a group rate and provide transportation if needed. Guys and Girls Night Out A monthly get together with a chance for the girls to get out and do something just for the ladies while the guys will have a chance to Bro-out.

The Miller Center offers transportation, activities, and serves as a central information and referral center. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Bradley University (OLLI) is an organization of over 1000 Peoria-area residents, from age 50 to 98, who want to stay vital and active as they reach and enjoy retirement. One way to do that is to keep learning, so they participate in the many programs of OLLI that include educational travel, classes, lectures, cinema events, and study groups.
