If you feel you are in a crisis, even if you are not experiencing suicidal thoughts, please call 988 (simply dial these 3 digits). People call for help with substance abuse, economic worries, relationship and family problems, sexual orientation, illness, getting over abuse, depression, mental and physical illness, and even loneliness. ===================================== For life-threatening concerns, please call 911 or be taken to your nearest emergency department. ===================================== Moving to 988 does not mean the 1-800-273-8255 number goes away. After July 16, 2022, using either number will get people to the same services. In the end, 988 is an easier-to-remember way to access a strengthened and expanded network of crisis call centers.
Text HOME to 741741 or message on website. If in a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately. ------------------------------------ Crisis Text Line is the free, nationwide, 24/7 text line for people in crisis. The service is powered by volunteer Crisis Counselors who work remotely anywhere with a computer and secure internet connection. Our Crisis Counselors bring texters "from a hot moment to a cool calm" using techniques in empathetic listening. Once they've built rapport and trust, explored the issues, and established the texter's goal, they collaboratively problem-solve to help the texter come up with a plan to stay safe.
