The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is a nonprofit serving people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Callers receive personalized information about multiple sclerosis and connections to local and national resources related to MS. Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. In addition, the helpline can connect callers to peer counseling, advice on local support groups, and online communities.

Peoria County Bright Futures offers several programs for children, age four and under, and their parents; as well as for expectant parents. Among the most prominent programs are preschool and home visiting. Preschool locations include Farmington, Elmwood, Dunlap, Illini Bluffs, Norwood, Oak Grove, Peoria Heights, Pleasant Hill and Princeville. Special education services are offered as well.

Brightside Recovery in provides comprehensive treatment services to address the underlying causes of addiction alongside the physical symptoms. In addition to in-person services, Brightside offers completely remote treatment via telehealth, providing drug screens, medication delivery, and virtual counseling. Treatment programs include those focusing on fentanyl, heroin, and Kratom (70H) addiction, as well as transitioning off of methadone. Medication-assisted treatments (MAT) available include Suboxone, Sublocade, Vivitrol, and Brixadi.

Heartland Health Services is a federally funded organization that provides medical, mental health, and substance use services for everyone, including low-income adults and children, regardless of ability to pay. PLEASE NOTE that transportation assistance is available to get to appointments (just ask Heartland about this). The Greater Peoria Family YMCA offers a multi-purpose facility, immediately off of Willow Knolls Dr. Memberships include: group fitness classes, outdoor summer pool, group fitness classes, two full-sized basketball courts, and youth programs. The facility also offers child care and after school, school break, and various other programs that do not require a membership.

Job Corps offers GED/high school equivalency test instruction.

Community Needs Agency in Chillicothe is an all-volunteer resource center that serves residents of Illinois Valley Central School District 321 (Chillicothe, Rome, Mossville area). All programs and services are income-based. A couple of service clarifications: -Emergency food can be provided as available to clients by appointment only. -One aspect of energy assistance is LIHEAP application assistance, offered by appointment only for clients.

The Alzheimer's Association is a donor-supported, non-profit health organization, serving the needs of those affected by Alzheimer's and related dementias; advocating for policy change and research funding; and working to advance research toward prevention, treatment and a cure. The Alzheimer's Association offers a national, 24/7 Helpline, as well as local support via its Peoria office.

The Pekin Preschool Family Education Center offers half-day preschool to eligible three and four years old in Pekin Public School District 108. Special education services are available as well.

North Central Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is a non-profit behavioral health care organization serving La Salle, Bureau, Marshall, Putnam, Fulton, McDonough, and Grundy counties.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources offers instructor-led and online safety education courses for boating, hunting, snowmobiling, and trapping. The objectives of the safety education programs are to teach the user to be safe, ethical, and responsible when they participate in the activity.

The EBeauty "Pay It Forward" program provides free wigs to women facing hair loss from cancer or other medical conditions.

Dream Center Peoria offers a 24/7 emergency shelter that includes snacks, showers, a bed to sleep in, breakfast, lunch, dinner, job readiness assistance, case management services, and storage (not for furniture). Phones can be utilized for job interviews. Day services also include showers and cooling/warming center availability for their eligible population (single women; mothers with children; single fathers with children; couples with and without children; and other family units) even if they are not staying at the Dream Center.
