METEC Resource Center assists community members in finding or keeping a home, learning new skills, improving their credit scores, filing their taxes, accessing legal support, and more.

Hand Up Peoria offers a food pantry twice per month (2nd & 4th Thursday, usually), as well as a hygiene item pantry (2nd & 4th Wednesday, usually). Thursday pantry items include food, meat, some refrigerated items and fruits as available, and bread. Wednesday hygiene items include incontinence supplies, feminine hygiene items, baby needs (diapers & wipes, primarily), and other hygiene products.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office provides animal control services to Putnam County. Please note that the Sheriff's office does not deal with wild animals such as deer, skunk, bats, raccoon, etc. If you have questions/concerns in regards to this matter, please contact IL Department of Natural Resources (IL DNR). The Stark County Good Samaritan Fund accepts applications from working families in the area that have needs beyond their means to pay. The Fund provides stop gap assistance to get them back on their feet and can potentially assist with a variety of services. About one third of all funds will be used to pay utility bills. Another one third will pay for housing, rent or mortgage payments. The final third will end up going for everything from medical services, to car mufflers. The aim is to keep the people in their present homes, to keep their car working so they can get to work, and to get them needed medical attention so that they can work. The Fund has a board that determines who qualifies for help and how much help can be provided. The board also governs all other aspects of the organization.

IF IN A CRISIS SITUATION, SUCH AS PENDING DISCONNECTION OR ALREADY BEING DISCONNECTED , IT IS RECOMMENDED TO STILL CALL ANYWAY, EVEN IF NO APPOINTMENTS ARE LISTED ONLINE. PLEASE NOTE THAT FURNACE ASSISTANCE IS A SEPARATE PROGRAM, SO YOU SHOULD GO AHEAD AND CHECK WITH TAZWOOD, REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS LISTED ONLINE. In addition, customers can either call or go to their local office, but this is ONLY to schedule an appointment. When calling into the office, you might get a recorded message stating that the phones are disconnected, the number cannot be completed as dialed, all circuits are busy, etc. The type of message you receive varies based on your phone carrier. There can be thousands of customers calling on a given day, and Tazwood has around 20 staff answering the phones and scheduling appointments. It is important to remember that LIHEAP runs from October 1, 2025 - August 15, 2026, or until funding is exhausted. Customers can opt to wait and come in during the winter months if they would like to avoid the rush that that beginning of the program year brings. ================================================= ADDITIONAL LOCATION DETAILS: This office is in the University Professional Center Building. When you enter the parking lot follow it to the BACK of the building. Tazwood LIHEAP is located on the 2nd floor. You will enter through the back entrance where there are stairs and an elevator. Customers with issues getting into the building or to the 2nd floor, please call (309-690-6500) and a staff member will come down to the lobby to assist you. OSF Saint Francis - Behavioral & Mental Health offers comprehensive outpatient and more limited inpatient behavioral & psychiatric services for adults. For comprehensive behavioral health service linkage (including outside of the OSF network), please also check with OSF Behavioral Health Navigators (309-308-8150). The service is free.

Victim/Witness Advocates offer advocacy and wraparound services to victims who report their crimes to the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office. People served include: homicide survivors, victims of violent crimes (i.e., domestic violence, robbery, assault, stalking, sexual assault, elder abuse, hit and run, etc.), and victims of property crimes (i.e., burglary, theft, forgery, criminal damage to property, etc.). Victim/Witness Advocates address and coordinate issues ranging from informing victims/witnesses of court dates to finding and recommending various services available for victims. Advocates may accompany victims/witnesses to court and explain the step-by-step process of criminal prosecution.

It Takes A Village of Peoria is aimed at collaborating with organizations, parents, students, teaching personnel, and citizens to support students' academic success. The organization offers a "Village" store inside of Peoria area schools that provides free clothing, school supplies, and food. Assistance is also occasionally available for adults in the general public.

First Hand Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) organization that provides funding for individual children—both domestically and globally—who need assistance with clinical necessities (such as surgery, medication and therapy), medical equipment and travel related to care. Expenses covered: *Treatment: Clinical procedures, medicine, dental care, therapy, prosthesis, service dogs, etc. *Equipment: Wheelchairs, movable ramps & stair lifts, assistive technology equipment, care devices, hearing aids, feeding equipment, etc. *Medical-related travel and lodging costs *Vehicle modifications: Lifts, ramps and transfer boards --------------------------------------------------------------- Expenses not covered: *Medical bills, reimbursements, emotional support animals, alternative/experimental treatments, or education-related therapies/expenses. *Permanent housing modifications

The Mackinaw Community Center Food Pantry is available to Mackinaw and Deer Creek residents on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month. In addition to food boxes, the food pantry provides school supplies for any child in need that attends Dee Mack schools.

Mindset Care specializes in assisting individuals with mental health diagnoses, developmental and physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, those in critical care situations, and their caregivers in applying for Social Security Disability benefits - SSI and SSDI. Assistance with the SSI/SSDI appeal process is also offered. Mindset can support individuals ages 0-63 in all 50 states. The process blends technology with legal advocacy for a streamlined approach to accessing benefits.

The OSF Strive Trauma Recovery Program provides trauma-informed therapy, case management, and legal advocacy services for individuals age 6 and up in Peoria County who are survivors of, witnesses to, or family members of survivors (or victims in cases of murder) of violent crime. Services are offered at several locations, including OSF Hospital and Emergency Department, OSF Outpatient office (214Pecan St., Peoria 61602), Manual Academy (and some other Peoria Public Schools), Wrap-Around Center in Trewyn, and in homes and other locations as needed.
