The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation is a nonprofit serving people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Callers receive personalized information about multiple sclerosis and connections to local and national resources related to MS. Service coordinators and peer counselors can talk through needs, answer questions, and help find the right support. Through the helpline, people with MS can also learn about and apply for a variety of support programs (eligibility usually requires an MS diagnosis), such as *Emergency Assistance Grant -- financial help for urgent needs like rent or utility bills (documentation required) *Healthcare Assistance Grant -- helps uninsured individuals pay for neurologist or dental visits *Homecare Assistance Grant – short-term homecare, caregiver respite, therapy services *Transportation Assistance Grant – funding for paratransit or rides to medical appointments (Lyft/Uber) and minor car repairs *Assistive Technology Program – info and partial funding for devices that aid daily living (e.g., canes, adaptive tech) *Computer Program – provides computers to help people with MS stay connected. *Cooling Program – cooling vests and accessories for heat sensitivity. In addition, the helpline can connect callers to peer counseling, advice on local support groups, and online communities.

Provides one-time financial assistance grants (up to $2,500) to eligible active-duty service members, activated Guard or Reserve members, and their families who are experiencing unexpected financial hardship due to deployment, military-related injury, or service-related circumstances. Assistance may help cover basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, or other essential bills. Grants are paid directly to creditors and do not require repayment. Expenses Eligible for consideration of payment (daily necessities): *Housing expenses - mortgage, rent, repairs, and homeowners’ insurance (establishing residence/insurance or paying off expenses for a residence that is no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Vehicle expenses - payments, repairs, insurance (purchasing/paying off loan, major repairs for vehicles over 10 years old, registering, establishing insurance will not be considered) *Utilities (establishing/paying off utilities for a residence no longer being occupied will not be considered) *Childcare *Medical bills (the patient’s portion for necessary or emergency medical care only). Expenses Ineligible for consideration for payment: *Military debt/repayment, tuition assistance debt/repayment *Cable, internet, secondary phones *Taxes owed of any kind *Rentals of any kind (vehicle, furniture, and/or electronics) *Any other expenses not determined to be a "daily necessity" The eligible and ineligible expense lists are not all inclusive. Tazewell-Woodford Head Start is a federally funded program that empowers families and promotes school readiness in preschool aged children. Tazewell-Woodford Head Start serves approximately 234 families in the surrounding communities. Our teachers follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and Illinois Learning Standards. They also work with surrounding school districts and agencies to serve individual needs. Along with educational services we provide health, nutrition, transportation, parent involvement, and family support.

Almost Home Kids at OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois provides care to children from newborn to age 22 who are most often dependent on medical technology, such as ventilators, feeding tubes, or central lines. Respite care offers families a period of rest from one to 14 days. In addition, transitional care is offered for children with medical complexities who are medically stable and ready to leave the hospital, but whose families need some extra time to make preparations for their child's return home.

The Mackinaw Community Center Food Pantry is available to Mackinaw and Deer Creek residents on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month. In addition to food boxes, the food pantry provides school supplies for any child in need that attends Dee Mack schools.

The Woodford County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) is operated by and for U.S. veterans. VAC officers work with veterans and dependents to determine their entitled benefits and file claims with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. VAC officers guide applicants through the entire process and fight to ensure a fair review of all claims. The Veterans Assistance Commission's programs are considered emergency and interim financial assistance programs and should not be considered as an ongoing financial supportive program. All assistance provided by the VAC is predicated on an established standard of need as set forth by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). It is not the intent of either the Commission or the County to provide assistance either less than or in excess of the levels of assistance adopted by IDHS.

Peoria County Triad is a safety organization that focuses on reducing crime victimization of seniors. This is a combined effort between the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Peoria Police Department, and other agencies in the community that work in senior services. The areas of concern covered include identity theft, scams, personal safety, home safety, and elder abuse.

Must align with Comfort Keepers' services (non-medical in-home assistance). They are very flexible in making this work. For example, a disabled individual or a senior might call about a ride to an appointment and Comfort Keepers could make this possible by seeing if the person would like to have his or laundry done, which would involve them for non-medical in-home assistance and allow them to provide the transportation.
