One of the focuses of the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC) is supporting a safety net for caregivers in crisis. The IRC has Emergency Respite funding stipends for caregivers across Illinois in a planned or unplanned emergency. This program provides funding so caregivers can pay for services they choose. Crisis situations that may qualify for the Emergency Respite Program include, but are not limited to the following circumstances: -Caregiver illness (physical, mental, and/or emotional) -Caregiver hospitalization or doctor appointments -Illness of a loved one -Funeral or wake -Drug or alcohol abuse counseling or support -Care recipient transitions (i.e. living arrangements) -Loss of employment or work related situations -Declining Mental Health

The Illinois Department of Human Services is one of the state's largest agencies, offering the SNAP/Link, Medicaid, TANF, and AABD (Aid to the Aged, Blind, or Disabled) programs, among others.

The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program's (IHWAP) primary purpose is helping low-income Illinois residents save energy and money while increasing the comfort of their homes. IHWAP accomplishes this by installing weatherization measures that pay for themselves over their expected service life. IHWAP also addresses home health and safety issues where they are connected to home energy and indoor air quality. IHWAP is not a home improvement nor a home rehabilitation program. Areas that weatherization focuses on include: properly running and efficient heat source, attic and sidewall insulation, caulking and weather stripping existing doors and windows. IHWAP is NOT a door or window replacement program. If a home has major structural or health & safety concerns, it will be deferred from IHWAP. Tazwood Community Services acts as the Home Weatherization Assistance Program for Tazewell, Woodford, and Peoria counties.

Prairie State Legal Services offers free legal services for low income persons and those over 60 who have serious civil legal problems and need legal help to solve them. -------------------------- The Victims Legal Advice line may be able to address the following areas for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault: -Questions related to housing safety, the Safe Homes Act, breaking a lease -Questions concerning emergency protective orders -Advice for victims who fled to Illinois with their children from another state. -Questions about visitation rights for abusers. -Questions about victims’ rights within the criminal court process -Questions about special protections for victims abused by fellow students. -Advice concerning legal options for victims of sexual assault or stalking

The Center for Prevention of Abuse is the only agency in the State of Illinois to provide combined services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, and elder/disabled adult abuse. The Center also reaches students age pre-K through college with violence prevention education, as well as abusers with an abuser re-education program.

Dental Lifeline Network (formerly the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped) is a national humanitarian organization providing access to comprehensive dental services for people with disabilities or who are elderly (determined by office) or medically at-risk. Dental Lifeline Network provides these services through a national network of direct service programs that involve 15,000 volunteer dentists and 3,200 volunteer labs. Typically, the patient will not receive treatment the same day that he or she applies, so this is not the best option for a dental emergency.

JOLT Harm Reduction provides a variety of free services, including -Naloxone/Narcan and Overdose Prevention Kits and Training -Drug Checking (analysis of drugs to verify composition for more informed consumption and to avoid highly dangerous substances/adulterants) -Peer Recovery Navigation (exploring recovery options and offering support through the process) -Sexual Health & Testing (free and confidential testing for HIV/AIDS, Hep. C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphillis. Free condoms, lubrication, and PrEP/PeP) -Harm Reduction (Free and sterile syringes, safe using supplies, alcohol pads, sterile water, tourniquets, sharps containers, and wound care) -Street Outreach (outreach to people who are living unsheltered, people who use drugs, and people who perform sex work) -Sex Worker Outreach (RUG, the Red Umbrella Group, is a mutual aid, peer support, online community for people involved in sex work. Trillium Place The Knolls, an affiliate of Carle Health, is a residential recovery home program providing substance use disorder treatment services for adult men 18 and older. Proudly affiliated with Carle Health, Trillium Place is a not for profit organization originally formed in April 2019 by joining UnityPoint Health Behavioral Health Services, the Human Service Center, and Tazwood Center for Wellness. With locations in Peoria, East Peoria, Pekin, Lincoln, and Eureka, Trillium Place provides a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services.

Good Beginnings is a prenatal and postpartum home visiting program that provides services and support to qualified first-time and second-time caregivers in Peoria and Tazewell counties. Good Beginnings program offerings include: -Community-based doulas provide labor support, education, postpartum care, and home visits to mothers in the program beginning at the third trimester through six weeks postpartum. -Home-Visiting Family Support Specialists provide activities, education, and resources to help you be the best caregiver you can be. -Prenatal classes are available for expectant birthing people and their partners to learn the best ways to keep everyone healthy during pregnancy. ----------------------------------------------------------- Additional exclusive programs for all enrolled Good Beginnings families include: -Spanish and English parent support groups provide additional resources to help caregivers create safe and stable home environments for children in their care

Peoria Jobs Partnership is a Christian mentoring program for people who might be experiencing problems getting gainful employment. For the general public, there is the Community Program. The curriculum includes 12 classes, taught by different community professionals over a 12-week period. Students are required to complete homework for each class, and are awarded a certificate of completion at the end of the program. The Community Program allows students access to great instructor/ practitioners, and allows them contacts with community leaders that can act as advocates for them when they seek employment. Additional programs, such as Solar Training and the Fresh Start Workshop, are offered for individuals with a felony in their background and those re-entering society from incarceration.
