Peoria Public Library has five locations and a bookmobile that serve the Peoria community with materials, meeting and study spaces, public computers, and programs for all ages.

Good Days offers medical assistance programs for people dealing with a variety of diseases: Copay Assistance Copays for treatments that can extend life and alleviate suffering Travel Assistance Transportation costs can be a significant barrier to treatment access. The Good Days Travel Assistance program pays for travel costs to ensure patients have access to the care they need. The specially-trained team of Care Navigators make all travel arrangements and stay in constant contact with the patient, physician and case manager throughout the course of the patient’s treatment. Travel assistance may include transportation by car or a variety of public transit options including Uber Health and Lyft for Healthcare. If a patient’s treatment requires an overnight stay, Good Days Care navigators will arrange flights, car rentals, and lodging as needed. By coordinating travel from start to finish, the Travel Assistance program ensures patients can easily adhere to important medical appointments. Premium Assistance Good Days offers the Premium Assistance Program for individuals who need help paying their monthly medical insurance premiums. Diagnostic Testing Assistance Many insurance plans do not cover diagnostic testing, which could be key in obtaining a proper diagnosis and/or appropriate treatment plan. Good Days can potentially offer financial assistance to cover the cost of diagnostic testing.

The Mackinaw Police Department serves the village in numerous ways. Among these, it participates in Project Childsafe, which offers gun locks free of charge for safety in the home. Oak Street Health's Peoria Clinic also serves as a cooling or warming center during business hours for those needing a break from extreme temperatures.

Family House offers family housing to those outside of the peoria area who have a family member in the hospital for medical reasons.

The Heartland offers income-based housing for those 62 years of age and older OR 18 or older with mobility disabilities (has to be someone who would benefit from an accessible unit).

The HOPE Chest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that sells and sometimes donates furniture, appliances, and other household items. The organization also offers a food and pet pantry. Please note that the pantry is at 1416 N. 8th St.

Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) demonstrates a successful partnership between governmental agencies and private organizations. One of the focuses of the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC) is supporting a safety net for caregivers in crisis. The IRC has Emergency Respite funding stipends for caregivers across Illinois in a planned or unplanned emergency. This program provides funding so caregivers can pay for services they choose. Crisis situations that may qualify for the Emergency Respite Program include, but are not limited to the following circumstances: -Caregiver illness (physical, mental, and/or emotional) -Caregiver hospitalization or doctor appointments -Illness of a loved one -Funeral or wake -Drug or alcohol abuse counseling or support -Care recipient transitions (i.e. living arrangements) -Loss of employment or work related situations -Declining Mental Health
