This program is not intended to suspend, expel, or punish students. Rather, the goal is to encourage students to "Seek Help Before Harm." Safe2HelpIL is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, and website (Safe2HelpIL.com) to share information on school safety issues in a confidential environment. Once vetted, the information provided will be shared with local district and school officials and/or local PSAP/9-1-1 call center, depending on the nature of the information shared. The Safe2Help program is a confidential help line. Reporters will be encouraged to provide their name and contact information, but it is not a requirement. Information received by Safe2Help is exempt from the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reporting rules and can only be accessed under limited conditions by a court order.

The East Peoria Fire Department has a free smoke alarm and installation program for East Peoria homeowners in financial need. Recipients must be East Peoria residents and the owner of the home. Landlords are not eligible for the program. Those who qualify should call 309-698-4700 and select Option 3. Note: The fire department offers only smoke detectors, not carbon monoxide detectors or combination smoke-carbon monoxide detectors.
